This Morimens beginner guide covers how the game plays and what to do first. Morimens is a free-to-play roguelite card battler. You take a team of Awakeners into Investigation stages, play their Command Cards within an Arithmetica budget, and grow the roster between runs with Wheels of Destiny, Covenants and Posses. For your first days: push the main Investigation story, take the free Argent Dawnlight pull, clear the Combat Tutorial stages, and use the Handbook to track tasks and rewards you haven't claimed.

Sources are the Steam store page, the App Store description and official Steam patch notes up to V2.6.2 (live October 19, 2026). Rewards change between versions, so each number names its patch. Pull rates aren't in the notes we read, so we leave them out.

01

How a Morimens run works

The Steam store describes a Lovecraftian roguelite card battler: you build a deck from your Awakeners' power and push into the mists of Kadath, while random events, Orison card buffs and Relic drops change every run. It also promises progression that carries over between runs and lenient death rules.

TermWhat it means (per official notes)
InvestigationThe main story mode. Part 1 is Faded Legacy and Part 2 was Astral Reign (renamed "Investigation Part 2" in V2.6.2 quest text). Chapters have Normal and Hard modes
Command CardsEach Awakener brings their own cards to the shared deck. Wheel of Destiny effects refer to "Command Cards of the wielder"
ArithmeticaThe cost of playing a card. You also have an Arithmetica limit, and balance patches often change card costs
AliemusBuilds up on each Awakener and powers their Exalt. In Traphase notes, Exalts cost 100 Aliemus
KeyflareThe Keeper's own resource. You spend it to activate your equipped Posse and on Keyflare Rouse
MenophinStamina spent on investigations. Silver can quickly refill it (V2.6.2)
Time ReversalRewinds a battle. Since V2.6.2, everyone gets 5 free uses a day, and you can rewind to any of up to 100 combat rounds

The Steam page lists 185+ cards plus Traphase, a PvP mode that needs no character building.

02

Awakeners, Realms and classes

Awakeners are your characters. Each belongs to one of four Realms: Chaos, Aequor, Caro or Ultra. The newer versions of these Realms are Primordia: Chaos, Benthos: Aequor, Propagation: Caro and Singularity: Ultra. Patch notes also tag Awakeners with a class, Assault, Warden or Chorus. V2.6.2 lists Vivian as a Chaos Realm Chorus Awakener.

Mixed-realm teams have been allowed since early version 2.0. Pure teams get a doubled Realm Mastery effect. The developer's community log of October 17, 2026 plans an extra 250 Realm Mastery for pure teams of the newer Realms, which isn't live in V2.6.2. Our Realms guide explains each mechanic, and the tier list ranks current Awakeners.

03

Wheels of Destiny, Covenants and Posses

  • Wheels of Destiny (WoD) are equipped on Awakeners and come in SSR and SR. You get them from WoD banners, event rewards and login events.
  • Covenants are bound to Awakeners and roll attributes and sets. Transcription rerolls attributes, and V2.6.0's Auto Transcribe runs up to 100 times, stopping once an attribute of strength 8 or higher appears. V2.6.2 marks each Awakener's recommended sets and attributes.
  • Posses are equipped team abilities that cost Keyflare to use. Story content unlocks new ones. In V2.6.2, for example, clearing the Psyche Deepdive chapter "Princess Diary" unlocks the Posse "Evil from the Dark Night".

Looking for Morimens builds or decks? Start with the Handbook's Growth Guide, which since V2.6.2 shows each Awakener's recommended Wheels of Destiny, Covenants and lineups. Lineups can be shared as codes you copy and import.

Your first days, step by step

  1. Play the Prologue. Since V2.4.0, the first download is smaller and the remaining resources download while you play the prologue. Records unlocks after the Prologue (V2.5.0).
  2. Take the Argent Dawnlight pull. This first-time Awakening, added in V2.2.2, gives one free 5-pull that always includes a random permanent Awakener from Realms Research, and you can reawaken until you like the result. Realms Research appears after you finish it.
  3. Clear Investigation 1-2. It unlocks Interludes (V2.5.0) and the Psyche Deepdive chapters (V2.3.3).
  4. Do the Combat Tutorial. It triggers after Part 1 stage 2-9 if you haven't cleared it yet, and the first clear of each stage pays Pure Core (V2.6.0).
  5. Open the Handbook. Argent Journey shows the recommended story order. Silver Survey lists permanent rewards you haven't collected.
  6. Bind your account. Binding a phone number or email in User Center, Complete Profile lets you log in with it (V2.5.2).
  7. Claim codes and trials. Check active codes. Trial events for new Awakeners pay Silver ×40 and Luminous Core ×1 (Vivian's, in V2.6.2).

As a guide to difficulty, V2.4.0 set the recommended Normal-mode levels at 35 for Faded Legacy Chapter 4, rising to 60 for the Final Chapter.

05

Daily routine and free resources

  • Training Quests in the Handbook (Daily Drills and Weekly Trials, merged in V2.6.2). In V2.5.0, daily tasks included playing 50 cards, spending 180 Menophin and logging in.
  • Gifts from Mythag: log in on 7 days during each Mythag Events season to get Luminous Core ×10. Season 39 runs October 19 to November 16, 2026.
  • Gameplay events: Vivian's event "And Then There Were None" pays Silver ×900, Luminous Core ×6, Pure Core ×6 and a limited SR Wheel of Destiny.
  • Discord: the developer's 30-day challenge hands out 1,000 Silver on some days.

07

Banners for new players

Besides Argent Dawnlight, the permanent banners are Realms Research (Awakeners) and Wheels of Rotation (Wheels of Destiny). V2.4.0 added every SSR Faded Legacy limited Awakener and Wheel of Destiny to these banners. Limited banners change with each version. In V2.6.2 they're Vivian's "Indolent Sorceress" and the WoD banner "Putrefying Irrigation", running October 19 to November 16, 2026. Some premium banners add rules: in V2.5.1's "Kaleido Recollections·Astral Reign", two SSR Wheels in a row guaranteed an SSR Awakener next, and the reverse.

V2.2.2 also added a paid "Beginner's Special Offer" that pops up after Investigation 1-2 for 24 hours. It's optional. See current banners and our reroll guide before you spend.

08

Common mistakes to avoid

These are editorial judgements as of V2.6.2 (October 2026), each based on the mechanic it cites.

  • Auto-battling everything. Manual combat earns 3 times the Affinity of Auto Battle (V2.6.0).
  • Leaving Time Reversal unused. The 5 free uses a day reset, so use them on hard fights.
  • Rerolling Covenants without a target. Check the recommended attributes first, then use Auto Transcribe.
  • Forcing pure-realm teams. Mixed teams have been supported since early version 2.0.
  • Missing login streaks. Gifts from Mythag needs 7 login days within the season.
